Banana Bars

I saw this recipe on pregoandmommychat.blogspot.com not long ago and I had to try it. My husband is a fanatic over banana bread so I figured this would be right up his alley. After making them I have decided this will be a staple in my dessert repertoire. SOOOOOO GOOD! The cake is awesome but topped with the brown butter frosting and it knocks it out of the park. It would also be great with cream cheese frosting too. Great treat to hand out around the holidays to neighbors and family!

1 1/2 C sugar
1 C sour cream
1/2 C butter
2 eggs
3 or 4 ripe bananas
2 tsp vanilla
2 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 C walnuts (optional)

Beat together sugar, sour cream, butter and eggs.
Add bananas and eggs. Cream together well.
Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir until well incorporated.
Add nuts.

Pour into greased jelly roll sheet. (Also known as large cookie sheet ) Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes.

Brown Butter Frosting
1/2 C butter (need to use real butter, not margarine)
3 C powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 Tbsp milk

Melt butter in sauce pan over medium heat. Let butter brown to a deep golden brown. Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. Whisk together. Will be thinner than standard frosting.

Pour and spread over bars while they are still warm. Enjoy!
